When B + A asked me to photograph their engagement session, I was thrilled! They had tons of ideas for an adventurous afternoon. We ultimately decided on a mountain engagement session which took place right in the heart of Rocky Mountain National Park! As an adventure photographer based out of Northern Colorado, I acquired all necessary permits and information for the area. This engagement session was sure to be an adventure, especially with a snow storm on the radar for later in the afternoon. We honestly could not have been luckier with the weather. The first half of the session allowed for sunshine while the second half brought snow and a dramatic background. Scroll through the rest of this entry to relive the excitement of their adventurous engagement session.
The Adventure
We entered the park and I was instantly speechless by the beauty of the mountains. I am constantly amazed by this beautiful world we live in and it seemed that with every turn there was something more breath taking than the last. As we drove through Rocky Mountain National Park, we stopped at a few overlooks before pulling off to where B had proposed to A just a few months ago. He told me the story of how he proposed and we couldn’t help but share a few laughs. B actually hand carved the ring box for A which he did in secrete before he even proposed and it is the most beautiful and special ring box!
We kept making our way through the park, and watched at the snow storm started to pour in. B found us a trail that led us off off into the woods so of course we had to go exploring… Little did we know, the snow was not yet packed down and we found ourselves falling through the snow. I feel down a few times and we all had shoes full of snow by the time we got back to the car but it was definitely worth it for these shots of the couple truly living their best life!! Seriously, just look at those smiles!!!
As the afternoon progressed, what started as a beautiful mountain engagement session, quickly turned into a cozy and breath taking snowy session. We found stunning mountain views and once the snow started to fall we found ourselves on a frozen lake (Bear Lake) which served as the most amazing backdrop for this adventurous couple. We were all smiles as soon as the snow started fall and the couple even shared a few drinks. But no snowy engagement session is complete without some playful snow fights and rolling around in the snow with your love.
These photos from B + A’s adventurous engagement are only a taste of the wildly beautiful love these two share. In life we find that we get stuck in the monotony of work and bills and mere survival. That said, I can honestly say that this world would be a more beautiful place if we could just embrace the beauty around us and be fearless in our adventures through life. I hope that these images can inspire you to live a little on the wild side and also inspire some adventures of your own.
