There’s just something about Sedona that makes it one of my absolute favorite places to elope in Arizona (maybe even the entire Southwestern US). Whether it’s the towering red rock formations or the way the entire valley lights up at sunset, Sedona is pure magic!
The red rocks contrast beautifully with the lush green vegetation, creating jaw-dropping views that will make your heart race! Imagine standing at the edge of a cliff (safely, of course!) as you say your vows with the sun setting behind you. That’s here! A place full of breathtaking views! Ready to plan your big day here? Let’s dive into the best places to elope in Sedona, Arizona!
Best Time to Elope in Sedona, Arizona
While Sedona is gorgeous year-round, the best time to visit is between March and May when the weather is perfect and the wildflowers start to bloom!
Fall (late September to November) is also amazing as the temperatures cool down again. Spring and fall are the busiest times of the year, but if you’re looking for fewer crowds, elope during the week or head out on a private jeep tour to find those hidden spots. Summer can be a bit toasty with temperatures hitting 90-100°F, but it’s still doable with some shade and those stunning red rock views! Winter is cooler with a chance of snow – seriously, red rocks and snow? It’s absolutely stunning!
Best Places to Elope in Sedona, Arizona
Bell Rock
Bell Rock is one of Sedona’s most accessible locations for elopements. The hike is relatively short and straightforward, making it great for couples who want those iconic red rock views without a strenuous trek. The trail gives you panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, with Bell Rock’s distinctive shape looming in the background. The scenery here is stunning, with vibrant red rock formations contrasted by the desert’s green shrubs and trees.
Crescent Moon Ranch
Crescent Moon Ranch offers a beautiful mix of red rock views and greenery. Oak Creek runs through the area, providing a peaceful waterside setting, which is especially stunning when you get the reflection of Cathedral Rock in the creek. The location is easy to access, with parking nearby and a short, flat walk to some incredible spots. The area is pet-friendly if you’d like to include your dog in your elopement!
Munds Wagon Trail
Munds Wagon Trail is for couples who want to combine adventure with stunning views. The trail is moderately challenging, with some rocky areas and elevation gain, but the views along the way are worth every step. You’ll be surrounded by towering red cliffs and wide-open views of the Sedona landscape, and occasionally, you may spot small pools of water.
Cathedral Rock
Cathedral Rock is one of Sedona’s most iconic spots, but it does require a bit of a climb. The trail to the top is steep and can be tough in parts, especially as you near the summit, but the 360-degree views from the top are absolutely unreal. If you want a dramatic backdrop for your ceremony, Cathedral Rock is perfect. However, if the steep hike isn’t ideal, there are plenty of lower viewpoints around the base that still offer breathtaking views of this famous rock formation.
Merry Go Round Rock
Merry Go Round Rock is one of Sedona’s more remote and adventurous elopement locations. It offers epic panoramic views that will take your breath away! The journey to get there is definitely part of the adventure. This spot is accessible via a 4×4 drive, making it a bit more rugged and secluded.
This is quite a popular elopement spot, especially at sunset. And it’s not surprising why! Imagine standing on a wide, flat rock formation with sweeping vistas of the iconic red rock landscape as your backdrop?!
Lover’s Knoll
Lover’s Knoll offers some of the best sunset views in Sedona. It’s an easy spot to get to – just a short drive and a quick walk to the overlook. The scenery here is amazing, with sweeping views of the red rocks that light up as the sun sets. This is a great place to elope if you’re not too excited about a big hike on your day!
Airport Mesa
Airport Mesa is another easy-to-access spot with incredible panoramic views of Sedona’s red rock landscape. There’s a parking lot nearby, and the hike is short, though there are some rocky areas to navigate.
The location offers a bird’ s-eye view of the city below and the surrounding red rock formations, such as Chimney Rock, Ship Rock, Coffeepot Rock, and others. It’s a popular spot, so plan to elope at sunrise or on a weekday!
Oak Creek Canyon
Oak Creek Canyon is a beautiful, forested area just north of Sedona. The scenery is completely different from the open desert, with lush greenery, a flowing creek, and towering canyon walls. There are plenty of spots along the creek that are easily accessible for a ceremony. The hikes here range from easy to moderate, so you can choose your adventure level depending on how far into the canyon you want to go.
Red Rock State Park
Red Rock State Park is known for its incredible scenery and variety of trails. The park is fairly easy to access, with well-maintained paths leading to overlooks and red rock formations. You’ll get those classic Sedona views of the red rocks contrasted with the desert greenery, and there are plenty of wide-open spaces for your elopement.
